Install Requirements

API Creator can run in a very small footprint. In Amazon, many servers are "micro" instances -- one partial CPU and 1GB of RAM. Locally, you will need at least JDK 1.7 or higher installed.

When installing an API Server on your own hardware or in your own cloud, we recommend:

  • as many CPUs as required for peak load-- all available CPUs will be taken advantage of
  • a minimum of 512MB of heap size for the container, and a maximum of 4GB. Anything more becomes counter-productive. If you have a lot of RAM to throw around, use several containers.
  • a few GB of available disk space for log files

Most critical is the round-trip time to your database(s). The closer CA Live API Creator is to the database(s), the better. Ideally, the ping time between the API Server machine(s) and the database server(s) should be less than 1ms. You can test this in the API Creator (Test database).

API Creator is provided in a number of alternatives:
  • Jetty - self contained single-user extract (available on request)
  • Installable web app (WAR) - for deployment into Web / App Servers, so it can run with and utilize your existing systems, with a familiar deployment model.
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Amazon (AWS Elastic Beanstalk)
JDBC Drivers may be needed to support your specific SQL Database.
